Honeymoon in Vegas is a musical written by the multi-award-winning Writer's Guild of America award winner Andrew Bergman. Tickets for the musical Honeymoon in Vegas are now showing at theaters. Grab your tickets fast for a fun night out! The musical tells the story of Jack Singer, a man from Brooklyn, and his girlfriend Betsy Nolan. Jack is torn between his desire to marry Betsy and his mother's dying wish that he never get married. To escape his dilemma, he proposes that they run away to Las Vegas. Excited, they make their way there, only to be met by a wealthy gambler, Tommy Korman, who is taken with Betsy, as she reminds him of his dead wife. The story follows Jack's attempts to win back Betsy before it is too late, taking the audience from New York to Las Vegas and then to Hawaii.
Honeymoon in Vegas has two acts, with twelve songs in act one and eleven songs in act two. The musical score is written by Jason Robert Brown, who has won three Tony awards for his work as a lyricist, writer, and orchestrator. The dance synchronization and choreography is by Denis Jones, who has also worked as a choreographer on Broadway plays such as Legally Blonde and Irving Berlin's Holiday. The musical is directed by Gary Griffin, who has been awarded ten Joseph Jefferson Awards, one Olivier Award, and one award from the League of Chicago Theaters.
The cast of the musical is one of its most notable features. Tony, Astaire, and Drama League Award nominee Rob McClure stars as Jack Singer, for which he has achieved the Theater World Award and the Clive Barnes Award for his exceptional performance in “Chaplin: The Musical”. He also made his television debut in CBS’s series Person of Interest. Betsy Nolan is played by Brynn O’Malley, who appeared in the most recent revival of the Broadway Musical “Annie” and has also starred in Beauty and the Beast, Hairspray, and Into the Woods. The role of the millionaire Tommy Korman is played by Tony Danza, who has starred in several hit plays such as “The Producers” and “The Ice Cometh” with the living legend Kevin Spacey. Tony is also known for his performances in the hit television series “Who’s the Boss” and “Taxi.”
The play has been very well received by the critics. The New York Times praised the play, saying it is a deeply satisfying musical and is “Irresistible! It's everything you want it to be”. It also added: “A whole lotta delicious fun.” The Record said that the musical was a total “Musical Comedy Bliss”. The Hollywood Reporter honored this fantastic musical by saying: “A Blast of Hilarious, Splashy, Irreverent Fun.” The performers have also been highly acclaimed by the critics. Deadline praised Rob McClure, stating him to be a Triple Threat. Time Out New York gave four stars to this musical with the remarks that it is just “too damn fun.”
