One of the most prolific playwrights of America, David Mamet is now making a spectacular return to Broadway in October 2015. The Pulitzer Prize-winning writer has penned “China Doll”, a two-cast play that has garnered huge publicity ever since Mamet described it to be “better than oral sex”. The play has specifically been written for the all-time favorite actor Al Pacino and theatergoers are excited to catch the hot celeb live on the stage. The Mamet-Pacino duo gained popularity after the blockbuster success of Broadway's “Glengarry Glen Ross” in 2012-2013. Pacino plays Mickey Ross, the lead character in “China Doll”. One can't help but ask if this has any link with “Glengarry Glen Ross”, the pair's last hit venture. This might mean a sales frenzy for the China Doll tickets because there are just too many people wanting to watch the play for too many reasons.

It Starts With a Call
Billionaire Mickey Ross buys a plane for her much younger fiancée as a wedding gift. Part of his plans are semi-retirement and a leisure life. Just as he is about to leave his office giving his young assistant Carson some last minute instructions, he receives a fateful phone call. What follows will change the course of his life forever. The compelling storyline is sure to attract hordes to the venue as curiosity builds up regarding the two-hander.
“Mamet Speak”
How can a drama pull off a performance with only two characters? Many intrigued by the fact might just want to stop by and see. “The characters are Mickey Ross, a billionaire; Carson, the assistant, and a telephone”, says David Mamet himself. The talented playwright has penned a total of 21 plays to date with numerous accolades to his credit. The Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning writer has been lauded for his characteristic, cynical and street-smart dialogues that have become highly distinctive. Theatre circles refer to his dialogues as “Mamet Speak”, focusing on his ability to enhance tension and emphasize on situations. Directed by Pam Mackinnon, the epic show has been perfected by set designer Derek McLane, costumes by Jess Goldstein and lighting by Russell H. Champa.
Al Pacino and Fran Kranz
Twice Tony and Oscar Award winner Al Pacino now makes his return to Broadway with Mamet's “China Doll”. Last seen in 2012 in the Broadway revival of “Glengarry Glen Ross”, Pacino shares a special relationship with the playwright. “For me over the years the relationship and the collaboration with David Mamet has been one of the richest and most rewarding. We've done four projects together and the opportunity to create a new character in the David Mamet canon was an opportunity I couldn't pass up”, says Pacino. Fran Kranz plays the role of Ross' young assistant Carson. The actor recently starred in “You Can't Take it With You” that played on Broadway last year. The performer has also appeared in movies including “Training Day” and “Donnie Darko”.
