The Magical World of Aladdin
Aladdin is a result of the creative genius of Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, Chad Beguelin and Tim Rice. Menken has provided the music of the show while Ashman, Beguelin and Rice have written the lyrics. The book of this musical is penned down by Chad Beguelin. Based on the 1992 Disney animated film of the same name, which was produced and directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, the show debuted on July 7, 2011 at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle. A couple of years later, the show was staged for the first time in Toronto at the Mirvish Theatre.
After its run in Toronto ended, it was decided to give Aladdin its Broadway debut. On March 20, 2014, the musical's Broadway production opened at the New Amsterdam Theatre. The show became a huge hit and featured Adam Jacobs as Aladdin, Jonathan Freeman as Jafar, James Monroe Iglehart as Genie and Courtney Reed as Princess Jasmine.
