About Wisconsin Badgers

Wisconsin Badgers, nicknamed as the Badgers, is a NCAA Division 1 athletic program. It comprises of many sports teams including football, soccer, tennis, golf, softball, basketball, volleyball, ice hockey, cross country, swimming, wrestling, track and field, and rowing. Many major on-campus sports facilities are provided to the teams. In majority of the sports, they compete in the big ten conference. A total of 23 sports departments are operating and approximately 800 athletic students. The mission of the University's Athletic Department is to provide students with the opportunities to achieve their goals which are other than academic goals. The sports opportunities are for everyone who is a part of the university including the teachers and other working staff. The principles of respect, sportsmanship, athletic excellence and fair play prevail in the department. There is a proper athletic board which takes care of the athletic department's activities and procedures.

A Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) exists that provides a chance for the athletes to discuss any issues and give suggestions to the athletic board. Barry Alvarez is the current athletics director. Basketball and Football are the two most dominant sports out of all the sports that are being played.
