A History That Is Nothing Short Of a Roller Coaster Ride

The Golden State Warriors were known as the Philadelphia Warriors when they were formed in the year 1946 and were one of the charter franchises of the Basketball Association of America. They got off to a brilliant start too. With Joe Fulks among their ranks, the Warriors went on to clinch the BAA Championship at the first time of asking. They made it to the BAA Finals next season too but could not win the title that season.

The Warriors won their second title, the NBA Championship at the end of the 1955-1956 season. Their form however nosedived after that and they won just two conference crowns till 1974. The Warriors’ form turned around in 1975 as they won another NBA title. They also won the division and the conference crowns that year. Unfortunately, that did not materialize into anything special and the Golden State Warriors hit a brick wall.

The Warriors Rise Again

Between 1975 and 2014, the Golden State Warriors just managed to win one division championship. What happened next was the stuff of dreams for everyone associated with the Warriors. In 2015, they won the division title, the conference championship and the NBA Championship. They won the division as well as the conference championships next season too but lost to the Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.

The Warriors however weren't to be denied for much longer and won back-to-back NBA Championships over the next two seasons.

1- The Golden State Warriors have made it to the playoffs on 35 occasions as of the end of 2019 season.

2- As of the end of 2018 season, they have won 6 NBA Championships, 10 conference titles and 6 division championships.

3- The Warriors have played in the NBA/BAA Finals ten times and have won on six occasions.

4- As of 2018, the Warriors have reached the conference finals sixteen times and have won ten of those series.

5- They have also reached the conference semifinals on twenty seven occasions and have come out on top in thirteen series as of 2018.

6- The Philadelphia 76ers are the Golden State Warriors' most frequent playoff opponents, having squared off against them in 10 series as of 2018 season.
