Starting to play in 1893, Tulane Green Wave’s football team is one of the oldest athletic programs at the University. The team represents the university in the Football Bowl Subdivision, and is currently coached by Curtis Johnson. They were members of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association, when they claimed their very first conference championship in 1920. Since then, the team has won a total of eight more conference titles, the most recent of which came in 1998. Tulane Green Wave baseball team is also one of the its most decorated athletic programs. The team plays its home games at the Greer Field at the Turchin Stadium. Over the recent few season, Tulane’s baseball team has managed to rank among the best college baseball teams in the nation. Their list of accomplishments boasts making two College World Series appearances back in 2001 and 2005. Apart from these, the team has also made nineteen NCAA tournament appearances. The team has also won eight conference tournament titles in total along with five conference championships. Four former Tulane Green Wave players have also gone on to play in the National Basketball Association.
