Universities in Texas have some of the best athletics departments in the country and as a result have enjoyed a lot of success in college sports. The Texas Tech University's Red Raiders are part of that legacy and have held their own against any of their state or national rivals. Their football team in particular has added several top scalps to its name already and many more are expected to follow this season as well.

The Journey Begins

The Red Raiders played their first game in 1925 and made a respectable start. They recorded only two losing seasons in their first ten years and would go on to win their first title, a conference championship, in 1937. They would repeat the feat once again, in 1942 to prove all their doubters wrong and showcase the progress their squad had made over all this time.

Moving Forward

As time progressed, so did the Raiders and between 1947 and 1955 they would manage to add seven more conference championships to the two they had already won previously. All in all they have won a total of eleven conference titles and have also added a division title to their collection as well. The team has also taken part in thirty six bowl games to date, winning fourteen, the last of which came in 2013.
