Salt Lake Bees is a minor league baseball team based in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Bees are well known for their best season start in minor league history, which was 21-1, in 2008. They are affiliated with Major League Baseball’s ‘Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim’. Current franchise started off in 1994 and since then they have undergone several changes in the name, being Salt Lake Buzz, Salt Range Stingers, finally to have settled to Salt Lake Bees in 2005.
Salt Lake Bees Cities
The Bees played their first PCL game in the state of Utah on March 31, 2011, when 10,000 fans filled the stadium, cheering the Bees as they made their victory against ‘Vernon Tigers’. Although original Bees have never been able to win a PCL pennant, they sure have attracted many attendees. After playing 11 seasons, when Vernon Tigers left Los Angeles, it was suggested that the Bees should be moved there. Here the team soon became famous as the "Hollywood Stars" However; in 1958 the team was sold back to Salt Lake City. Despite all the moving around and despite the fact that team was not able to achieve any first-place finish, in 1971 and 1979, it won PCL pennants. The fictional version of the team was made into a film "Major League: Back to the Minors" in 1998. This gave the Bees a national fame. In 2008 they made their biggest record, only to be struck by a great tragedy in 2009, which was the tragic death of Nick Adenhart, a former team member, killed in a road accident.
Salt Lake Bees plays its home games at Spring Mobile Ballpark, which is known as ‘Apiary’ by the fans. It was opened in 1994 and has a capacity for 15,500 fans. It is located in the industrial area of Salt Lake City. It is said that lately the hymn of the Bees has been to provide Classical Baseball full of family fun. Their home field goes very well according to this mantra. With its green classic turf, video boards and other score boards, it has a class park look. There is variety of eatables available, ranging from snacks, Mexican food and even BBQ. The atmosphere is perfect, with loads of attractions for kids, especially the train "Bumble Express" It is said that Salt Lake Bees fans are respectful and courteous.
