Two of NASCAR’s most famous races are on their way to the famous Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania. It is time for racing fans to experience the thrills of CRC Brakleen 150 and Pocono 225.

The CRC Brakleen 150 is part of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and features the best NASCAR trucks. NASCAR History

NASCAR stands for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing which is a family owned franchise that looks after stock car racing. The organization owned by Bill France Sr., started its operations in 1948. NASCAR holds multiple racing series every year and plays an important role in taking the sport to new heights. Its popularity can be gauged from the fact that the NFL is the only sporting event in the country that beats NASCAR events in terms of viewership numbers and fans. To top it off, NASCAR races are broadcasted to fans in over 150 countries all around the globe.

The Camping World Truck Series

It wasn’t until the early 1990s that the plans for the Truck Series kicked off. Renowned racers like Frank Vessels, Jim Venable, Jimmy Smith and Dick Landfield who operated under SCORE, were concerned about the future of off-road desert racing.

To add something different to desert racing they decided to start racing trucks on pavements. Finding support in Ken Clapp, the Western Operations Vice President at NASCAR, the team SCORE was encouraged to come up with a better proposal and build a truck that would meet NASCAR standards.

The first prototype was built by Gary Collins and the owner Jim Smith promoted it at the legendary Daytona International Speedway. The vehicle generated quite a lot of buzz among the fans and that is when NASCAR called them for a review meeting. The efforts of SCORE members were rewarded as in 1994 the “SuperTruck Series” was formed. That was the start of what has now become the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

The Record Breakers

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series fans have seen some epic races over the years. Those races and seasons have been headlined by some of the biggest names in the sport who have etched their names in history books due to their stellar achievements. Since its inception in 1995, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series has in total been won by fifteen different drivers.

At the top of the list is the iconic Ron Hornaday Jr. who has been crowned champion four times. He won the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 1996, 1998, 2007 and 2009. Second on the list is Jack Sprague with three championships (1997, 1999 and 2001) to his name. Todd Bodine and Matt Crafton have won it twice each.

Ron Hornaday Jr. also holds the record of winning the most NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races, his count reaching 51. Kyle Busch is second on the list with 49 wins while Mike Skinner is third with 28 titles.
