Evansville Purple Aces Tickets

The Evansville Purple Aces represent the University of Evansville. Both their men and women sports team play their trade in the Missouri Valley conference as members of the NCAA Division I. They took over the name Purple Aces in the 1920’s. The university kicked off its sporting history with basketball. The sport made its mark for the first time in 1950’s when Arad McCutchan took over coaching duties. Slowly and steadily he began to change the dynamics of basketball at the institution and that resulted in a Division II championship in 1959. Three more titles came in the next decade and another one in the 1970’s.

They made the jump to Division I in 1977 but tragedy struck on 13th December that year. The Evansville Purple Aces basketball team’s plane crashed on the way to going for a game at Middle Tennessee. Everyone aboard that flight died. The overwhelming support of the people of the area paved the way for the university to field a basketball team once again for the next season. Since then they have gone on to appear at the NCAA Men’s B asketball Tournament on five different occasions.

The Evansville Purple Aces football team took to the fields for the first time in 1898. The football team came to the fore in the 1940’s when they went on to win the Hoosier Bowl. More glory was to follow in 1949. They not only played host to the Refrigerator Bowl that year but also went on to win it. They made it all the way to the playoffs in 1974 after compiling an impressive 8-2 record during the course of the regular season. The purple aces women soccer team has been a force to be reckoned. They went on an astonishing run that began in 1996. From that point onwards for the next half a dozen campaigns they either won the conference or the tournament crown.

The sports program for both men and women has won regular season conference championships in baseball, basketball, soccer and softball. The conferment tournament has been captured in baseball, basketball, golf, soccer, softball, swimming & diving and tennis. The purple aces have been there and thereabout so they know what it takes to win championships. They have risen once again after that fatal airplane crash of 1977 and have continued to improve consistently with every year that has gone by.
