Early Life & Career
Cody Johnson was born in 1987 in a small town of Texas. He grew up in a musical family, and learned to play the guitar at twelve. He formed the Cody Johnson Band with drummer Nathan Reedy and his father Carl in 2006. They added another member, Matt Rogers (lead guitar player), in 2006 and recorded a live album, Live and Rocking.
Line-up Changes
Johnson’s father left the band after the release of this album. They added a bass guitarist, Danny Salinas, in 2009. In 2009, they released Six Strings One Dream, which was their first professionally produced album. Three singles from this album made their way to the Top Ten of the Texas music charts. After this album’s release, the band added two more members; Jeff Smith (on guitar) and Chris Whitten (on fiddles). Whitten was later replaced by Jody Bartula in 2010.
Subsequent Albums
In 2011, Johnson released his fourth album, A Different Day. He won the Texas Regional Music Award in 2011 for the ‘New Male Vocalist Of The Year.’ The band eventually changed its name to Rockin’ CJBs and continued to produce hit albums like Gotta Be Me and Cowboy Like Me.
Johnson’s musical style and voice are reminiscent of George Strait, Travis Tritt and George Jones. His true cowboy look and authentic music will surely take your breath away. So purchase your Cody Johnson Tulsa OK tickets before they are gone.
