There is surely plenty more to come from this team with the likes of Cody Zeller, Miles Bridges, Terry Rozier, and others raring to go.
About Charlotte Hornets: The Evolution
The Charlotte Hornets came into being in 1988 and joined the NBA as an expansion franchise that year. It did not take long for the nascent basketball organization to become competitive on the court; they earned a maiden playoff berth in just their fifth year of existence in 1993. In subsequent seasons, the Hornets became postseason regulars until the franchise relocated to New Orleans in 2002. Two years later, the NBA laid the foundations of the Charlotte Bobcats, who were considered a new expansion team at that point. On the other hand, the now New Orleans Hornets kept the official history, name, and records of the franchise.
Return to the Place of Their Birth
A little over a decade after switching Charlotte for New Orleans, the Hornets management decided to rebrand the franchise as the New Orleans Pelicans. This resulted in Charlotte getting back the Hornets' name, official history, records, and memorabilia. From the 2014-15 season onwards, the Bobcats underwent a brand makeover and became the Charlotte Hornets.
The Spectrum Center, formerly known as the Charlotte Bobcats Arena and the Time Warner Cable Arena, has served as the Hornets' home since 2005. You can watch your favorite players light up the court by getting Charlotte Hornets season tickets.
Acquisition by the Greatest of All Time
In 2009, the Bobcats underwent a change of ownership when former Chicago Bulls shooting guard Michael Jordan purchased a controlling stake in the franchise. A winner of six NBA titles and widely regarded as the greatest ever, Jordan became the first former NBA player to become a majority franchise owner.
Championships and Legendary Players
The Hornets have had a brief but highly eventful life as an NBA franchise. On the court, they have done remarkably well for an expansion team. Off it, the team has an ardent and loyal fan base that regularly sells out home games.
Many talented players have worn the Hornets' colors over the years. These include FIBA Hall of Famers Alonzo Mourning and Vlade Divac as well as Basketball Hall of Famer Robert Parish, among others. The current roster also includes many gifted athletes who are eager to take the franchise to the next level and cement their own legacies in Hornets' folklore.
Players of the caliber of Miles Bridges, Cody Zeller, and Terry Rozier have done exceptionally well since coming to Buzz City. They now have their sights set on bigger prizes, including a maiden NBA title, and everyone associated with the Hornets will be hungry for that first major trophy.
