William Royce ‘Boz’ Scaggs is one artist whose career is as diverse as it can get. Born on June 8th 1944, Scaggs picked up guitar for the first time and learned to play at the age of thirteen. In 1959, Scaggs joined his first band; school mate Steve Miller’s The Marksmen. Since then, this rock legend has only risen in the music industry. He traveled the world and practicing his art, played in many places such as Sweden and London. Upon his return to the United States, Scaggs reappeared as a guitarist on friend Steve Miller’s, now titled, Steve Miller’s Band. Working with the band for two studio album releases, Scaggs made his name in the music scene as a gifted guitarist. In 1976, he separated from the band and embarked on a solo career that resulted in massive popular appeal and critical acclaim.

With the release of his sixth studio album, Silk Degrees, Scaggs guaranteed his place in the top ranks of the music industry. The album rose to number two on the charts and produced four singles, all of which became popular favorites among critics and fans. One of the singles, Lowdown won Scaggs his Grammy for Best R&B Song at the 1976 award show. Simultaneously, he was also nominated for Best Vocals and Best Vocal Performance by a Male.
