About Adam Ant

Goddard was born in Maryland and raised in a small house. He got admitted to Hornsey College of Art after doing his A-levels. During his college time, he developed great interest in music and left his degree in between to focus on his dream career. He joined a band named as ‘Bazooka Joe’ in mid seventies but left it to form his own band in which he didn’t succeed. He attempted to kill himself because all the things around him were not going in the right direction. It took him a few months to recover from the mental and physical illness.
Goddard chose the name Adam Ant for himself prior to the formation of the band ‘Adam and the Ant’ in 1977. The frontman of this band ‘Adam Ant’ wrote most of the songs himself and became famous for the transition of Punk-rock and New Wave. The band released three studio albums until it disbanded in 1981, following frequent line-up changes. Adam and the Ant received a Grammy nomination and won two awards which included the ‘Best British Album’ for his first number 1 album ‘Kings of the Wild Frontier’. Adam Ant continued his solo music career after the band split up. His next album ‘Prince Charming’ received a platinum status and was ranked at #2 on the UK Charts. With ten of his singles hitting the top ten ranks on the charts from 1980 to 1983, Adam Ant became widely popular in multiple countries. ‘Friend or Foe’, another hit album which was released in 1982 also scored a top 5 rank on the UK Charts.
Adam Ant released eight studio albums till 1995 and became a well known artist among the music fans. He toured different countries and received constant applause. In 1985, he stepped into the acting career alongside music and became known as a refined actor during the nineties. He appeared in almost thirty films and TV dramas during the eighties and nineties. The talented man was also featured in some live TV shows in America and played role in 4-5 live theatres. During 2000s, his acting career seemed to fade out but he re-released some of his most popular work for his everlasting fans. He also wrote an autobiography which was published in 2006.
In 2010, Adam Ant made a successful comeback in the music world and went for an extensive world tour. It was followed by two UK tours and an Australian tour. Right now he is working on his upcoming album ‘Adam Ant Is the Blueblack Hussar in Marrying the Gunner’s Daughter’ which is expected to be released in 2013.
