About Jake Bugg

Born in 1994 in Nottingham, England, Jake began playing guitar at the young age of twelve. He was initially inspired by the song ‘Vincent’ by Don McLean. At the age of sixteen, Jake started writing and performing his own songs. His major influences were Jimi Hendrix, Donovan, Oasis, Johnny Cash and The Beatles. In 2011, Jake made an appearance at Glastonbury Festival when he was chosen by BBC to embrace its ‘Introducing Stage’. The appearance led towards a successful contract deal with the Mercury Records. Several of Jake’s songs were featured on BBC Radio and slowly paved his way towards stardom. His track ‘Country Song’ was used by Greene King IPA for a commercial on national TV. Subsequently Jake made several TV appearances most notably on Later…with Jools Holland on BBC. He was then invited to play at the Belsonic Music Festival as a supporting act for Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
Jake released his self-titled debut album in October 2012. The album met critical success, and garnered high scores from various publications and music websites including a nine star rating by NME. The album topped the UK Albums chart. It also landed at Top 10 positions in Germany, Ireland, and Austria. Since its release, the album has sold over a million copies in the UK, reaching platinum status. Six singles were released from the album including the lead single ‘Trouble Town’. ‘Lightning Bolt’, the album’s third single peaked at number twenty six position on the UK Singles chart and landed at number twenty-one spot on the Scotland charts. The track also broke on the Netherlands Mega Single Top 100 chart, Czech Republic IFPI and Belgium Ultratop 50 Flanders chart. Other chart breaking singles from the album included ‘Seen It All’, ‘Two Fingers’, ‘Taste It’ and ‘Country Songs’.
Jake has won several award nominations and honors for his work. The artist was nominated for a BRIT Award for ‘British Breakthrough Act’. His album ‘Jake Bugg’ was also nominated for the ‘Best Album Award’ at the NME Awards in 2013. His track ‘Two Fingers’ won the Ivor Novello Award nomination for ‘Best Song Musically and Lyrically’. Another feather was added in Jake’s cap when his track ‘Lightning Bolt’ was played during the 2012 Olympics in London.
