The song was about the September 11 attacks. Whereas some found it controversial, there were others loved it for patriotism's sake. For Toby the song was all about the patriotism his father had and his own faith in the United States of America. The incident following this made Keith even a bigger public figure than ever. His feud with Peter Jennings brought him under lime light with media. Peter Jennings, who removed Keith from an ABC Fourth of July special because of the song, along with his spat with Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines both boosted Keith’s popularity. This talent machine was born in Clinton, Oklahoma, right at the beginning of the 1960’s. His childhood was spent on his family farm in the suburbs of Oklahoma. His love affair with the guitar began at the very tender age of eight. It so happened that his grandmother owned a dinner club of her own where she invited various musicians to entertain the patrons. These musicians included Merle Haggard and Bob Willis. Soon Toby’s his love for country music spawned and he wanted to establish himself as a musician.
