In July of 1988, the duo performed for the very first time in front live audience at Chicago 21, a Polish bar. Working on a New Album

In February 2020, it was revealed that the Grammy Award winning quartet Smashing Pumpkins are working on their new album in Nashville. The upcoming release will be a conceptual double album and will be unlike any work they have done before. This news set the whole world abuzz, making fans excited and curious at the same time as they started to wait for the group to reveal more information about their eleventh studio album.

A few days later, the Smashing Pumpkin's frontman Billy Corgan announced that they have finished recording their next studio album. He stated, "Mixing is now complete on 20 songs; next step is mastering."

Apart from headlining two festivals, The Smashing Pumpkins will also be touring with Guns N' Roses. They will perform the first show with the group in Philadelphia on July 08, 2020. D’arcy Wretzkky joined Smashing Pumpkins when she met the duo at a show. After the duo turned into a trio, they performed at Avalon Nightclub. Watching their performance, the owner of the place decided to hire them permanently. Before the drummer Jimmy Chamberlin joined the band, they belonged more to a sad rock genre but after his arrival, they became hard rock type. Their first song I Am One from compilation album "Light into Dark" was released in 1990. After releasing two more singles, the band landed a contract with Caroline Records.

In 1991, Smashing Pumpkins released their first studio album titled "Gish." The music of the album was a combination of heavy metal, dream pop and psychadelia. After the release, the band went on a tour in its support. The tours also included their opening performances for bands like Guns n Roses and Red Hot Chili Peppers. The band became a part of alternative music grunge movement during its peak in America. The bands such as Pearl Jam and Nirvana were at their career height, boosting commercial success of Smashing Pumpkins as well.

Smashing Pumpkins went through a very dark phase when Corgan started to suffer from depression, Chamberlin became addicted to drugs and Wretzky and Iha broke up. Despite all the internal problems of the band, their second album, "Siamese Dream" managed to make it to the Billboard 200 at number ten. It sold more than 4 million records in the United States alone, leading to original mainstream commercial success of the band. In the coming years, Corgan sat down and worked real hard for their upcoming album, writing about fifty six songs. Album "Melon Collie and Infinite Sadness" was released in 1995, reaching number one position on the Billboard 200 in October of the same year. Time Magazine called it band’s most "accomplished" albums till date.

Smashing Pumpkins hit the road once again with their 1996 tour in support of their hit album Melon Collie. In 1998, the band released their third album titled "Adore." The fans saw a lot of changes in the style of the band, there was more drumming and more electronic music included. With album in market, the band embarked on yet another tour, profit of which was donated completely to a charity organization. In early 2000, the band decided to call it quits due to some personal matters. They decided to arrange a farewell concert. It took place at The Metro, the same club where they had started their career more than a decade ago.

Smashing Pumpkins reunited a couple of years later. With that, comeback album titled "Get Ready" was released in 2004, much to the excitement and surprise of the fans. The band continues to release new albums and embark on their long tours across the country and around the globe. In their career, they have managed to win several awards and recognitions, including Grammy Awards and MTV Awards. If you wish to attend one of their concerts, you better purchase your Smashing Pumpkins tickets in advance!
