Before the dawn of 2015, Nick Rivera Caminero, aka Nicky Jam, was without any label support, ruining his well-established career at the hands of drugs, alcohol and bad decisions. It didn’t help that he had a falling out with his mentor Daddy Yankee and later self-exiled to Colombia to get his act together. He managed to do just that and returned to the music scene with a bang.

Collaborating with Enrique Iglesias, the duo produced Latin Grammy Award winning song “El Perdón” (Forgiveness) that remained on top of the Billboard Hot Latin chart for 26 straight weeks. It replaced Shakira’s La Tortura which previously held the second position of longest running number one song on the charts. The first position is still held by Enrique Iglesias’s Bailando that remained on the top spot for 42 weeks.

Returning to the music scene after 10 years, Jam believes it couldn’t get better than this. He disappeared to find work and today has a European Tour planned, will be hitting popular venues in the US and has all the intention of extending his first ever trek in the country.

One of the hottest and biggest names in the Latin music world is not just burning up the charts, but also leading the list of nominations at the first ever Latin American Music Awards. His hot streak continues with six nominations including the “Song of the Year”, “Artist of the Year” and “Favorite Streaming Song”.
