Well known as one of the leading lyricists and singers of the United Kingdom, Steven Patrick Morrissey rose to popularity following his union with a band known as The Smiths. He worked as the lyricist and singer for the band, which mostly produced alternative rock music during the 1980s. The Smiths were extremely popular in the United Kingdom but they broke up in the year 1987 due to internal problems. Following their split up, Morrissey began to pursue a solo career, which became highly successful. He reached the Top Ten on the UK Singles charts numerous times and released various successful albums. Born on the 22nd of May, 1959, Morrissey belongs to Davyhulme, Lancashire, United Kingdom. He had been interested in music as a career from the time he was a child, listening to numerous singers such as Dusty Springfield, Sandie Shae, Bily Fury, Marianne Faithful and several more as well. Morrissey attended the St. Mary's Secondary Modern School and one of his most favorite bands of the time were the New York Dolls, who he says exposed him to the genre of punk rock, which he gradually started to love. He started to work for a group called The Nosebleeds in the year 1978. However, he departed from the band and joined The Smiths in the year 1982 to work as their lyricist and singer.  The Smiths became extremely successful in the 1980s but they split up in the year 1987 as a result of some internal problems. Following the break up of the band, Morrissey started to work on his debut album as a solo artist. The album's producers were Vini Rielly, Andrew Paresi and Stephen Street and was named Viva Hate. It became a huge hit and topped the charts upon its release. It was certified Gold by RIAA on the 16th of November, 1993. Two of the most popular tracks from the record were Suedehead and Everyday is Like Sunday. He released several tracks over the course of the following year, including Ouija Board, Ouija Board, The Last of the Famous International Playboys and Interesting Drug. The latter two songs went on to appear on the Top Ten charts.

Morrissey embarked on a heavy tour schedule in the year 2002, performing at numerous places and venues such as the United States of America, Australia, and Japan. After the end of the tour, he started to work on his next record. The album was called You Are Quarry and was issued in the year 2004. It turned out to become a great hit, achieving the 11th place on the Billboard album chart in the United States and the second place on the United Kingdom album chart. It also gained appreciation from the critics and saw its leading single, Irish Blood, English Heart hit the number three place on the United Kingdom singles charts within a week of its arrival. Some of the other popular tracks from the record were Let Me Kiss You, I Have Forgiven Jesus and First of the Gang to Die.

Morrissey issued his eighth full length studio album on the 3rd of April, 2006 after its recording was completed in Rome. The album was titled Ringleader of the Tormentors. It went on to top the UK albums chart soon after it was released and gained the 27th spot in the US. It also spawned various hit tracks such as The Youngest Was the Most Loved, In the Future When All's Well, You Have Killed Me and I Just Want to See the Boy Happy.
