King Crimson Tickets for Sale

Date & Time

1968 was the year when Johnny Cash recorded two live shows in California’s Folsom Prison, The Beatles were riding high on both sides of the Atlantic and Simon and Garfunkel released “Mrs. Robinson” which went to number one immediately. It was also during this year when three boys from Dorset, England, set out to change the face of progressive rock. King Crimson was formed when brothers Michael Giles and Peter Giles along with Robert Fripp decided to join together and form a band. Since their formation, King Crimson has released 13 studio albums, 15 live albums and 13 compilation albums. If you’re a King Crimson fan, you can get King Crimson tickets from here.

King Crimson has been touring all over the world for the past fifty years. 2017 will be the year when they will perform at selected cities in the US.

In the Court of the Crimson King

According to the website Ultimate Classic Rock, King Crimson’s emergence in 1968 was the best example of combining rock and roll with European musical concepts. The result was what everyone expected it to be. The sound of In the Court of the Crimson King was the mixture of many musical forms. It was definitive, daring and considered by some as a darker and edgier version of post-psychedelic rock. Critic and musicologist Edward Macan, in 1997, called it the most influential progressive rock album of all time. The claim wasn’t without merit as it went on to reach number five on the UK Album Chart and was certified Gold in the UK and the US and Platinum in Canada.

The production of the debut album, however wasn’t without its highs and lows. The live debut of the album was performed in front of a crowd of two hundred and fifty to five hundred thousand fans in Hyde Park at the Rolling Stones free concert in April 1969. However the recording sessions weren’t that popular. From failure to work with music producers to the stereo master recorder incorrectly aligning record heads, the recording was mired with technical issues. Still, In the Court of the Crimson King remains King Crimson’s most successful album to date. The debut album consisted of five songs out of which 21st Century Schizoid Man, I Talk to the Wind and The Court of the Crimson King were huge hits.

Since the Debut

King Crimson since their debut in 1969 has released 13 studio albums with their last one in 2003. As far as Live Albums go, after a twelve year absence the band released their fourteenth in 2015. Live at the Orpheum was released in 2015 under DGM. The very next year, another live album was released and this time it was Live in Toronto, followed closely by Radical Action to Unseat the Hold of Monkey Mind.  In addition to the studio and live albums, King Crimson has also released six video albums and worked on a number of spin off projects (ProjeKcts).

Primarily active from 1997 to 1999, ProjeKcts were essentially instrumental and improvised musical pieces produced by King Crimson. In a total of seven ProjeKcts, guitarist Robert Fripp is the only member of the band who was involved in all of them. Fripp described these undertakings as research and development for the band. With Tony Levin on the bass, the ProjeKcts, over the years, also included Pat Mastelotto, Adrian Belew and Trey Gunn.

The Sound of King Crimson

Called by The Guardian as the quintessential ‘70s progressive rockers, King Crimson’s music has been described in many ways. Their style of symphonic Mellotron rock had a powerful influence on bands such as Genesis and Yes. Nirvana is another band that was heavily influenced by King Crimson. King Crimson’s seventh album Red had a major effect on their lead singer Kurt Cobain.

Since their beginning, King Crimson has always been referred to as the musician’s band. The title fits as the band and its members have always found themselves on the outer fringes of stardom.  How else can one explain the ProjeKcts and the need for three drummers? King Crimson is one of the few bands who are more interested in exploring and experimenting with music than worrying about their record sales. This unique characteristic of shunning the materialistic aspect of the music business makes King Crimson a true ever evolving progressive rock band.

King Crimson will be performing at selected venues throughout the month of June and beginning of July. If you’re going to be anywhere near these selected venues, you might want to get a hold of King Crimson tickets before they sell out.
