Formed in 2011 in Sacramento, California, Death Grips is a three member hip hop band. The group features the talented rapper Stefan Burnett as vocalist, with Zach Hill on drums and Andy Morin on keyboard. Frontman Burnett, AKA MC Ride, has a distinct on-stage persona that gives the band much of its personality.

Exmilitary, the band?s debut mix tape was released in 2011 and included the notable song ?Takyon?. In 2012, Death Grips signed up with Epic Records and produced their second album , The Money Store, which featured their most popular songs ?I?ve Seen Footage? and ?Get Got?. They intended to release their subsequent album, No Love Deep Web, the same year but the label did not agree to it. The band then released the album themselves which resulted in a rift between them and the record company.

Signing up with Harvest Records, Death Grips then released its next album Government Plates. Death Grips latest album, The Powers That B, was produced under their own label, Third Worlds. The first half of album titled ?Niggers on the Moon? was leaked on the internet in 2014. It featured vocal samples from the singer-songwriter Bjork. The second half was titled ?Jenny Death? and featured more traditional Death Grips music. The album is to be followed up by a worldwide tour that will take the band to numerous venues across the US and Europe.

Death Grips 2012 album received commercial and critical success to a certain extent. It was placed ninth on Pitchfork Media?s list of ?Best Albums of 2012?. Government Plates earned the forty-third spot on Spin Magazine?s list ?Best Albums of 2013?.
