Austin Mahone first began uploading videos on YouTube in June 2010, with his pal Alex Constancio. These music videos increased in number by January 2011, by which time his online fan base had begun to grow rapidly. He has been referred to as Justin Bieber's 'second coming' since the two artists have such similar patterns of emergence into mainstream success. In fact, in October 2011, Mahone released a video cover of Justin Bieber's track “Mistletoe”, which caught attention from so many viewers that Bieber's original became second. In September 2011, he appeared on Billboard Social 50 charts on number thirty-eight, where he set a new record for being the youngest artist to be spotted on the list. Mahone reaches the twenty-eighth spot in a matter of three more months, and by the following year's May, he already had seven hundred and eighty thousand fans on Twitter and three hundred, fifty thousand fans on YouTube. Mahone, who lives in San Antonio, was attending Johnson Lady Bird High School, but had to be pulled out to be home-schooled instead, owing to his growing fame.

Austin Mahone's first single is called "11:11", which was released in June 2012 took the nineteenth spot on Billboard Heatseekers Songs chart. By the following August he issued his second single titled "Say Something" that got better result than the previous one, appearing on Billboard Pop Songs chart on number thirty-four. Around this time he had his first interview with the Morning Show and Elvis Duran, from which it was revealed once again that Mahone was a huge fan of Bieber, who is also a great source of inspiration to him.


At the very start of his career, Austin Mahone has already done quite a few live performances and is rumored to appear on RodeoHouston show, the lineup of which boasts of big acts such as Jason Aldean and Toby Keith.  At the Rodeo show, Mahone might be performing alongside Demi Lovato, who has already performed there once and did well. According to the chief operating officer of the show, Leroy Shafer, Mahone has been included in the lineup since the show is keen on finding new artists who might become the next big deal, and Mahone is quite the possibility. Since the start of 2012, Mahone has done a few live shows including one in New York, as well as at the Q102 Springle Ball concert and B96 Summer Bash of Chicago.
