Cabaret is based, partly on Christopher Isherwood’s short stories and John Van Druten’s play titled ‘I Am a Camera’. Its creative team consists of lyricist Fred Ebb, composer John Kander and director Joe Masteroff. The show premiered in 1966 at Manhattan’s Broadhurst Theatre. The musical’s first season held shows in Broadhurst, Imperial and Manhattan Theatres and ended showcasing a total of 1165 performances.
