Dancing with the Stars
So far, two hundred and eleven celebrities have appeared on this dancing platform. These celebrities have practiced alongside the professionals and have danced in different styles, including the tango, pasodoble, samba, freestyle, quickstep and cha-cha-cha among others. The performances of the contestants are evaluated by the judges and receive votes from the audience, thereby determining if they can proceed to the next round..
Famous celebrities have been hosting Dancing with the stars ever since it began. America’s favorite host Tom Bergeron has been hosting the show since its premier in 2005. His co-hosts have been Lisa Canning, Samantha Harris, Brooke Burke-Charvet, Erin Andrews and Leah Remini.
The official judges that have remained with the show since its premier are the famous Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli. Many other celebrities, professionals and former contestants who are associated with the dancing world, have appeared as judges also. These include Drew Lachey, Gilles Marini, Kevin Hart, Rickey Martin, Abby Lee Miller, Kenny Ortega, Donny Osmond, Robin Roberts, Jessie J and Pitbull.
The ratings of the show increased as the dance competition got more and more intense in its later seasons. Dancing with the Stars has won two Emmy Awards, in 2012 and 2013, for “Outstanding Host for a Reality-Competition Program” and “Outstanding Choreography”. It has also been nominated for “Outstanding Art Direction” and “Outstanding Reality-Competition Program” numerous times. The show won the People’s Choice Awards for “Favorite Reality/ Competition Show” in 2007 and 2008. Drew Lachey won the “TV-Choice Reality Male Star” award during the Teen Choice Awards in 2006. The show also won the title of “Outstanding Reality Series” during the Imagen Awards of 2007. It has been nominated for “Best Edited Reality Series”, “Non-Fiction Television Producer of the Year”, “Choice TV Reality Dance” and “Choice Summer Series” at the Eddie Awards, Producer Guild of American Awards, People’s Choice Awards and Teen Choice Awards.
The show has now set out for another national tour for 2014-2015 and will stop in major cities in the United States and Canada. Some of the chosen venues have already been sold out.
