Based on the writings of the renowned writer Roald Dahl, Matilda the Musical is a stage performance depicting dance, dialogue, songs and acting. The stage musical was written by Dennis Kelly whereas the musical compositions and lyrics were contributed by Tim Minchin. Director Matthew Warchus produced the show with designs by Rob Howell. The choreography was done by Peter Darling whereas the lighting, sound and specials effects were done by Hugh Vanstone, Simon Baker and Paul Kieve respectively. After successfully completing the trial run for twelve weeks at the ‘Stratford-upon-Avon’ staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company, the musical featured its West End premier in Nov 2011. The debut performance opened with positive reviews at the London's Cambridge Theatre with notable performances by Kaye and Carvel. The show was transferred to Broadway in 2013 with a production cost of sixteen million US dollars. Numerous changes were made to adapt the show according to the American audiences.
