Due to an overwhelming demand for Metropolitan Opera: Porgy and Bess Tickets, the company has announced three additional dates. Returning to the theaters after 30 years, the opera by George Gershwin, Dubose and Dorothy Heyward and Ira Gershwin will now be staged on February 4, 12 & 15, 2020. Artistic Director James Robinson has come up with an elegant production that's an amalgamation of dance, music, emotions and heartbreak. A folk opera, its stripped down approach keeps the audiences thoroughly entertained. The show is conducted by David Robertson and features Eric Owens and Angel Blue in the lead roles. Watch it live.

Porgy and Bess – Metropolitan Opera's Worthy Display
The classic by Gershwin, "Porgy and Bess" last staged at the Met in 1990 and since returning to the theater after 30 years, has only spurred the sales of Metropolitan Opera: Porgy and Bess Tickets. The opera brings with it great anticipation and started its run on September 23, 2019. Drawing in huge audiences, it was extended till 2020 and now additional three dates have been announced.
The visually appealing production features a rotating set that keeps things alive and energetic. Camille A. Brown's strong choreography stands out during the choral numbers and the songs "Summertime", "My Man's Gone Now", "Bess, You Is My Woman Now" and "I Loves You, Porgy" send out some incredible vibes. A perfect ambiance is created and atmospheric sounds are inserted between the pauses to retain audience attention.
Eric Owens soars in his role as Porgy. His physical and vocal interpretation is brilliant, as he effectively captures the mood of loneliness as well as harshness in his scenes. Angel Blue also shines as Bess and her chemistry with Owens is incredible. Her glorious rendition of the song "Summertime" highlights her vocal prowess that's both intimate and tender. Metropolitan Opera: Porgy and Bess has a stellar casting all around as all the actors play the characters to finesse.
