The Harlem Globetrotters on Tour

The Harlem Globetrotters was formed in Chicago in 1926. It wasn’t until the following year that the team played its first friendly game at the Savoy Big Five on 7th January, 1927. Comprising largely of an African-American roster, the Globetrotters decided to relocate to Harlem, New York in 1929 as the area was dubbed ‘the hub of African American culture.’ Over the years, the team has produced countless basketball legends, some of which include Frank Washington, Bernie Price, Connie Hawkins, Jackie Jackson and William Gates.
