Charlotte Knights Tickets
Playing their home games at the Knights Stadium, Charlotte Knights
play as the Triple-A Affiliates of the Chicago White Sox in the International League. The team came into existence in 1978, and is currently based in Fort Mill, South Carolina. The history of Charlotte Knights goes all the way back to the history of professional baseball in the city of Charlotte which dates back to 1901. It was the year which saw the foundation of Charlotte Hornets. Hornets played their games as an independent team. But in 1937, Washington Senators (that are presently known as the Minnesota Twins) bought the team. For the coming thirty five years in the team’s history, Hornets remained affiliated with the Senators. A major addition of a new ball park was made to the city when Calvin Griffith Park opened its doors for the fans of the sport. The 3,200 seat park was built by the son of the Senators’ owner Clark Griffith in 1940 and was named after him.

For several coming years, Hornets played in the lower ranks of the minor league, until 1954 when they joined Atlantic League as its Class A member. This wasn’t the first time that the hornets joined the South Atlantic League, because the team had previously played in the league during the 1920s. In 1964, the name of the South Atlantic League was renamed to Southern League when it earned the status of AA League in 1963. The team was renamed to Charlotte Twins in 1972, and following that season the team was folded as Minnesota cancelled its affiliation with the team, and Charlotte Twins weren’t able to find a new parent franchise.
The minor league baseball came back to the city of Charlotte in 1976, with the foundation of Charlotte Orioles. The team was previously known as the Asheville Orioles and they played under the affiliation with Baltimore Orioles until Jim Crockett Jr. bought the Asheville Orioles. For the comeback of a minor league franchise, several overhauls were carried out to the Griffith Park and it reopened as the Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial Park. The Orioles boasted having highly talented players in its roster and many of them went on to play for major league franchises. The Orioles also went on to claimed their two Southern League titles in 1980 and 1984.
The team’s ownership changed hands in 1987 when the founder of Charlotte Hornets, George Shinn purchased the franchise from Crockett Family and renamed the team’s name to Knights and also changed its affiliation to Chicago Cubs. Before finally becoming the affiliates of Chicago White Sox, Knights also remained affiliated with Cleveland Indians and Florida Marlins for some time. Two more League Championships came to the team in 1993 and 1999.
With their current season just around the corner, fans of the team just can’t wait for them to get on the field again. And if you’re one of those fans, then we have the right kind of Charlotte Knights tickets for you.
