About Mint Condition

Mint Condition was established in the year 1989 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. In the beginning, the band was made up of Jeffrey Allen on the saxophone and keyboard, Keri Lewis also on the keyboards, Larry Waddell on the piano, Homer O' Dell on the lead guitars, and Stokley Williams on the percussion, drums, and lead vocals. Keri Lewis left the band to work with other musicians, but except for him, the rest of the members remain with the band to this day. The group was first discovered by Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam, who were both music producers working for a recording label named Perspective Records. The group released their first album in the year 1991. The record was titled Meant to be Mint, and contained several R & B songs such as Are You Free, which peaked at the 55th spot on the US R & B charts, and Breaking My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes), which remained for 34 weeks on the charts.

Mint Condition released their second album in the year 1993. The album was named From the Mint Factory, and it also consisted of various hit songs such as You Send Me Swinging, which reached the 2nd spot on the Billboard Hot Hip Hop/R & B Songs chart, and remained there for a month. The song also peaked at the 14th spot on the Rhythmic Top 40 charts. Other than that, the singles So Fine and Someone to Love reached the Billboard Top ThirtyR & B charts. September of the year 1996 saw the release of their third record, which was called Definition of a Band. This was a largely successful album and reached the R & B Top 15 charts. A few years after the success of this album, the band accepted an offer by the Elektra Records, and released their fourth album, Life's Aquarium. The group went through a hiatus for six years, and Keri Lewis left Mint Condition to work for other singers. After resurfacing as a quintet, the group released an album in the year 2005, which was titled Living The Luxury Brown. This album was issued with Caged Bird Records, which was the group's independent recording company. The record peaked at the number one place on the Independent Albums Chart. In 2008, the band issued an album named E-Life, which reached the 8th place on the Billboard R & B charts, producing hit songs like Nothing Left To Say and Baby Boy, Baby Girl. The band has been nominated for various awards and honors, such as the Soul Train Music Awards and the SoulTracks Readers' Choice Awards.
