ZZ Top Jeff Beck
The American rock band ZZ Top came into formation in 1969 in Houston. The trio is one of the few bands to have had a consistent lineup of members for more than four decades. It comprises the guitarist Billy Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill (who are both also vocalists) and drummer Frank Beard.
The band is as renowned for its technical mastery as it is for its down-and-dirty blues rock. ZZ Top is also famous for its hilarious lyrical content which heavily relies on innuendos and double entendres. The band has transformed its musical style over the years but has kept its originality and unpredictability intact. From being a hard core blues-inspired rock group in its early years, ZZ Top became more inclined towards punk rock, new wave and dance-rock in its later years. Recently the ensemble has also started incorporating synthesizers in its music which allows it greater freedom with music creations.
In its immensely successful career spanning more than four decades, ZZ Top has released eleven gold and thirteen multi-platinum records. Their worldwide album sales add up to fifty million units. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Now you have the chance to watch this trio of remarkable musicians live on stage. Do not miss it.
Sharing the stage with ZZ Top is another equally legendary artist, Jeff Beck. Beck has earned worldwide acclaim for his guitar skills. He is ranked at number five on the Rolling Stone’s list of ‘The 100 Greatest Guitarist of All Times’. Jeff Beck has been recipient of six Grammy Awards in addition to several other prestigious accolades. He is also an inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Beck is known for his unpredictability in making music. He has moved from heavy metal to jazz fusion seamlessly and has been obsessed with the guitar throughout his career. This not only keeps Beck attractive for the fans but also never fails to thrill his audiences every time he produces something new. Jeff Beck has been equally successful as member of rock music groups and as a solo artist. His first official music experience came as member of the renowned group, The Yardbirds. He is one of the three noted guitarists who are known for their association with the band, along with Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton.
He remained with the band for two years and then in 1967, he formed his own band, the Jeff Beck Group. With the intensely loud blues tunes and guitar and vocal interplay, the band quickly gained repute as a hard rock ensemble. After this group dissipated, Jeff Beck formed another ensemble, named Beck, Bogert and Appice. This turned out to be a relatively less successful venture which finally led Jeff Beck to begin his solo career in 1975.
“Blow by Blow” came out in 1975 followed by “Wired” in1976. Both these solo albums brought him back to the spotlight and he once again got the stardom he had enjoyed in the mid sixties. Beck has collaborated with a number of notable artists, including Jon Bon Jovi, Roger Waters, Cyndi Lauper, Stanley Clarke and ZZ Top. Now he is collaborating once again with ZZ Top and you can catch these two iconic music acts live by getting ZZ Top & Jeff Beck tickets.
