She started performing as a child and landed several acting roles in productions by California Shakespeare Theater and many other notable companies. Zendaya remained part of a dance group, ‘Future Shock Oakland’ for three years and excelled in hula and hip hop dances when she was only eight years old. Her first professional experience came in her early teens when she did modeling work for Marcy’s and Old Navy, followed by her appearance on the video of Kidz Bop version of Hot n Cold, originally a Katy Perry hit song.
