Missouri native, Tyler Farr has been inspiration by some of the biggest names in the music industry including, Colt Ford, Vince Gill, Waylon Jennings, Vern Gosdin and Merle Haggard.
Tyler Farr was destined to be a country musician. His stepfather, Dwayne Philips used to play lead guitar for the legendary, George Jones. After watching Jones performance one summer, Farr decided to pursue his career in the music industry. He took voice lessons in high schools and then later moved to Nashville in pursuit of becoming a country musician. He started working as a bouncer at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge and later got promoted as a featured singer at the club.
It all started for Farr when his songs got the attention of Rhett Atkins. They formed a friendship because of the mutual love for country music which later led to a recording contract with BNA Records. The duo wrote a track together for Farr’s debut single titled, Hot Mess. The song received four stars out of five by the Taste of Country who praised the artist’s voice as “Unique, but not distracting.” He came up with his first EP, ‘Camouflage’ in 2010. The artist also helped co-write Hey Y’all and She’s Just Like That for Colt Ford and Joe Nichols respectively.
Tyler Farr released his debut album in 2013 titled, ‘Redneck Crazy’ which reached number two on the US Top Country Albums (Billboard) and number five on the Billboard 200. The album has sold more than fifty thousand copies and featured four singles including, Hot Mess, Whiskey in My Water, Hello Goodbye and his number one platinum track, Redneck Crazy. His hit single, Redneck Crazy got him a CMT nomination for ‘Breakthrough Video of the Year’ and the track was also termed as the “Song of the summer” by The New York Times.
His debut album received positive reviews from the critics. Matt Bjorke of Roughstock described the album as “Strong, likable voice that is put to ample use on the eleven tracks held within and it also suggests there's even more to the man that we've only scratched the surface of.” Country Weekly gave the album ‘B+’ while Allmusic gave it a three star out five stating that “His inherent politeness does mean his rowdy redneck ways feel a bit like schtick, but it's a good act performed with enough cheer that Farr's slickness sells Redneck Crazy whenever the tunes drift toward the generic.”
Tyler’s energetic live shows and wit has earned him name as the 2014 CRS New Faces of Country Radio and 2014’s Music Row as a ‘Breakthrough Artist of the Year’ nominee. The artist has appeared on The Today Show and on Fox and Friend’s All American Summer Concert Series. He has received rave reviews for his opening acts when touring with Florida Georgia Line, Lee Brice and Jason Aldean with whom he is currently on the ‘50 Stadium Burn It Down’ tour.
