Roderick David Steward was born in North London, England, where he grew up into a English and Scottish family. He began his career in music in the 1960s, when he became part of The Jeff Beck Group. After that, he joined a group named Faces, but his rise to fame occurred when he started his solo career in the year 1969. His debut album was named An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down in the UK. In the United States, the same album was released under the name The Rod Steward Album. One of the most popular singles of the album was called Lady Day. Soon, the singer started to gather a large amount of fan following all over the world. He released another album which was named Every Picture Tells a Story, and this proved to be a success, doing well with the critics as well as the fans. He is also an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in which he gained entry in the year 1994.
