About Randy Newman

Born on the 28th of November, 1943 in Los Angeles, California, Randy Newman has always had great interest in music ever since he was a young boy. He began to write songs professionally when he was seventeen years of age, and released his first single when he was eighteen. The song was called Golden Gridiron Boy. His first attempt did not turn out to be much of a success, and hence he focused his full attention on songwriting and arranging instead. Some of his early songs were recorded by artists such as Irma Thomas, The O'Jays, Jackie DeShannon, Jerry Butler and Gene Pitney. His lyrics gradually gained enormous success in the United Kingdom, where several of his songs were included in the Top Forty UK charts. Some of these songs included Just One Smile, Nobody Needs Your Love, I've Been Wrong Before, and many others as well.

In the year 1968, Randy Newman tried his luck at singing, and released his debut album called Randy Newman. The critics loved the record, and it gained considerable success worldwide. His early songs were covered by various musicians such as Peggy Lee, Pat Boone, Nina Simone, The Everly Brothers, Alan Price and several more. He released another album in the year 1970, which was titled 12 Songs.
