Ian Anderson The Best Of Jethro Tull
Initially, Ian started out by forming a soul and blues band named ‘The Blades’. He created the band with his fellow school friends. The members of the band included John Evan on keyboards, Michael Stephens on guitar, Barriemore Barlow on drums, Jeffrey Hammond on bass and Anderson on vocals and harmonica. At this point in time Ian hadn’t started to play the flute yet but he used to play the guitar ambitiously. Realizing that he would never be as good as Eric Clapton, Ian traded the guitar for the flute. Once Ian started practicing he was pleasantly surprised by the fact that he was able to play the flute quite well in a rock and blues style.
Ian was smart with instruments, he didn’t let his guitar training go in vain. He used the guitar as a melodic and rhythmic instrument and continued to play the acoustic version. As he progressed in his career he added other instruments to his expertise including bouzouki, harmonica, bass guitar, saxophone, keyboards, balalaika and a range of whistles. Over the years, he has produced six studio albums as a solo artist namely “Walk into Light,” “Divinities: Twelve Dances with God,” “The Secret Language of Birds,” “Rupi's Dance,” “Thick as a Brick 2,” and “Homo Erraticus.”
