Barry stepped into the limelight as a founding member of the band “Bee Gees,” regarded as one of the most commercially successful bands of all time. They got quite a lot of critical acclaim as well to rank among the most legendary collection of artists to have ever stepped foot on the stage. Barry took his brothers Maurice and Robin on board as songwriting partners. In order to honor the memory of his deceased brothers, Barry has hit the road with his Mythology Tour. He will soon be stopping by in an arena near you to perform as part of the road trip. Get your hands on Barry Gibb tickets and be a part of this very special ride.
Barry was born in the Isle of Man and raised in Manchester. Growing up he got involved in the skiffle craze that led to the emergence of “the Rattlesnakes,” his first band. At that time, Barry was influenced by artists such as Paul Anka, Cliff Richard and The Everly Brothers. Later in 1960, when the band moved to Australia, they evolved into “Bee Gees.” On their return to England, the band rose to prominence and attained worldwide fame. Barry’s unique selling proposition is his singing voice; he is renowned for his high-pitched falsetto. This USP led the singer to share the record with renowned musicians such as Sir Paul McCartney and John Lennon. Accompanied by legendary artists, together they came up with six songs that topped the Billboard Hot 100, back to back.
With a career spanning over five decades, Barry has gained quite a lot of fame. In 1994 he was inducted in the Songwriters Hall of Fame, where his brothers accompanied him. As a member of the “Bee Gees,” Barry was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. He also won a BRIT Award for the category “Outstanding Contribution to Music.” The prolific songwriter is a fellow of the “British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors” as well.
Barry holds a very unique record when it comes to songwriting. With four successive US number one hits, Barry is regarded as the only songwriter to do so. These hit songs included Stayin' Alive, Love Is Thicker Than Water, Night Fever and If I Can't Have You. The repertoire of his popular songs includes Guilty (with Barbra Streisand), Shine, Shine, What Kind of Fool (with Barbra Streisand), Fine Line, Childhood Days and more.
