Known for metalcore that combines elements of post hardcore and groove metal, their music has been released by Rise Records and Oxide Records. Attack Attack’s members today are guitarist Andrew Whiting, drummer Andrew Wetzel, bassist Tyler Sapp and lead vocalist Phil Druyor. Former members of the band include Andrew Whiting, Johnny Franck, Austin Carlile, John Holgado, Nick Barham, Caleb Shomo, Nick White and Ricky Lortz. They rose to fame with the release of an EP in 2008, titled If Guns Are Outlawed, Can We Use Swords? It led to their being signed onto Rise Records, with which they released three studio albums. In 2013, they kicked off a Back In Action tour.
Attack Attack was founded in 2005 by a group of musicians and released their first EP in 2008. After being signed onto Rise Records, they released their first studio album, titled Someday Came Suddenly in 2008, which charted on the Billboard Independent Albums and even on the Billboard 200 with thousands of copies sold in its first week of release. Following this, they went on a tour in support of Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. Vocalist, Austin Carlile left the band with Nick Barham of For All We Know fame, replacing him.
In 2009, they covered Katy Perry’s I Kissed a Girl for the album Punk Goes Pop 2, released by Fearless Records. They then went on tour with Burn Halo, Escape the Fate, Black Tide and William Control. They also participated in the 2009 edition of the Warped Tour and then performed for the charity Music Saves Lives. They premiered on MTV’s Headbangers Ball after releasing a music video for one of their songs, Stick Stickly. At the end of the year, they toured with Our Last Night, Miss May I, I Set My Friends On Fire and The Color Morale, in the famous Shred Til You’re Dead tour. They also performed at the Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey in 2009, where those who had bought cheap Attack Attack tickets saw them performing live.
In 2010, they were headliners of the national Artery Across the Nation Tour, supported by I See Stars, Asking Alexandria, Bury Tommorow and Breathe Carolina. Songs from their as yet unreleased album were played, which was then released in summer 2010. They performed as part of the 2010 Warped Tour, on its Altec Lansing Stage for the whole tour. They then went on to headline the spectacular This Is a Family Tour, held at the end of the year.
In 2011, they released a video for their hit song, Smokahontas, and saw a number of changes in the lineup. They also performed at Vans Warped Tour in 2011, on its main stage. The band also re–released their self–titled album with four new songs, two remix songs and two acoustic songs. In 2012, they released a new album, titled This Means War, with a tour in support of the album later on.
Their 2012 tour saw bands such as The Ghost Inside, Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!, Sleeping with Sirens, and Dream On, Dreamer supporting them. Two music videos of songs from their 2012 album were also released. They then went on the This World Is Ours Tour, along with The Word Alive and Escape the Fate. They were also headliners at the 2012 Scream It Like You Mean It tour. In 2013, they toured parts of Europe and are set to kick off the Back In Action Tour, for which many Attack Attack tickets are on sale and have been grabbed up by eager fans.
