The nineties were when gospel music was beginning to gain more popularity then before, which coincided with Peoples show on Atlanta’s radio station WAOK, encouraging the genre’s explosion. By 1991, just a year after Peoples began hosting, producing and directing the show, the artist signed a contract with Atlanta International Records, and in 1993, released Live at the Salem Baptist Church that brought her Stellar Award nomination. Her later album brought her more nominations and awards from the likes of Gospel Excellence Awards, Soul Awards, and Dove Awards, among others. Her success with this live album gave her the opportunity to quite her Church Door Records position in order to pursue her dream of singing full-time. By 1995, her offering On Time God, gave definitive standing to her in gospel, when she won a Stellar Award for traditional music in the categories of Female Vocalist of Year, Song of Year (for a song by the same name), Choir of Year as well as Album of Year. The same year, she also received a Vision Award from Bobby Jones Gospel of Gospel Today Magazine and Black Entertainment Television. In addition, the album brought her an Atlanta Gospel Choice Award in the category of Song of the Year.
