About Ricardo Arjona


His journey through time has seen him taste different professions but ultimately his love for music turned him into a big sensation. Ricardo Arjona is a former basketball player and after an unsuccessful first album quit music to pursue teaching as a career. However, destiny had a different plan for him. And he slowly made his way into music and began playing at different student festivals gradually gaining popularity and recognition. Ricardo Arjona was never meant to make music as a Latin Lover, hence the failure of his first album Dejame Decir Que Te Amo (Let Me Say I Love You). What distinguishes Arjona is his need to express his daily surroundings and experiences in his songs. He believes to write songs for no one but himself. Hence, he has written about kidnapping, rape, racism, homosexuality and immigration.

Every Ricardo Arjona song is an imprint of his experience and feelings. Older songs are a verbal picture of his earlier life and memories engraved in words.  Arjona defines his success by saying:, “I've been successful since the day I first dedicated myself to this.
