About Rat Pack Christmas

The allure and mystery surrounding the Rat Pack hasn’t diminished throughout the years. Together Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and Joey Bishop made up an inseparable band of mates whose friendship was the object of envy for many a people.  This holiday show brilliantly showcases their dynamic in a heart-warming, merry, and festive show.

To get you ready for this fabulous holiday show, here are five lessons we can all take away from the masters of swing.

  • Get Loose!

It’s not surprising that the masters of swing themselves believed that being loose was essential – after all, you can’t swing if you’re all wound up. The boys reminded us to not take ourselves too seriously and have a light heart.

In the words of Frank Sinatra:

“If you ain’t loose, you can’t swing.”

  •  Learn to Love Yourself

This isn’t some sappy suggestion; it’s an essential requirement. You’ve got to love yourself first, and thereby respect yourself. After all, the reflection staring back at you in the mirror is your most constant companion; the best friend you’ll ever have.

In Frank’s words:

“The only person who can hurt you is you. So treat him right, treat him with respect, and most of all, show him a good time. He’ll pay you back in spades.”

  • Be Present

There’s no use crying over spilt milk, and no one can accurately predict the future. That means your best bet is to focus on the present. The here and now is where all the magic happens, and all the swinging too!

“You only live once,” Frank said, adding, “and the way I live, once is enough.”

  • Value Your Friends

As the age old adage goes, ‘I’d rather have four quarters than a hundred pennies’. This applied very accurately with the Rat Pack. They knew right off the bat that they had chemistry and would be great friends and therefore formed a lasting bond.

“You bypass the acquaintanceship stage immediately,” Frank explained. “Either your currents are different and the chemistry isn’t there or else you’re hooked and you’re a friend immediately and in most cases permanently.”

The boys also understood that every human being is only really capable of pouring their emotional energy out to their true pals. Think about it this way - would you rather give a large crowd a small glimpse of who you are, or kick back with your true palls and have a roaring time?

  • Don’t Sweat the Little Things

If you’re reaching for the stars, don’t sweat the little hiccups along the way. Life has an uncanny ability of throwing curveballs at you; but the trick is, not to break into a sweat! For instance, when Sammy lost his eye, he became really depressed and suicidal. Frank, seeing the rut his friend was in, decided to outfit the rest of the Rat Pack with matching eye-patches. This simple and touching gesture made Sammy cast aside all the self-pity he had been feeling and helped him to get on with his life.

This iconic group was influential in more ways than one, and their impact can still be felt today. Their lives and unbreakable friendship serve as a testament to the power of living in the moment, enjoying life to the fullest, and not breaking a sweat when things don’t go as planned. Their spirit was infectious, and as such, has been captured in this thoroughly entertaining Christmas attraction.
