Under the direction of Ralph Nelson, who was an extremely talented Emmy Award winning director, Cinderella was performed for the first time in the year 1957. Rehearsals for the show began on the 21st of February, and the brilliant choreographer, Jonathan Lucas was hired for dance sequences. The orchestrations were provided by Robert Russell Bennett, who was a friend of Rodger's. The play was broadcasted live on the 31st of March, 1957 to an enthusiastic reception. Approximately 107,000,000 people saw the show in the United States alone and it went on to become a huge success. After the success of the televised version, the play was performed live on stage the following year at the London Coliseum in England on the 18th of December, 1958. The show was produced by Harold Fielding. The part of Cinderella was played by the talented actress Yana. In addition of her, some of the other cast members included Betty Marsden, Tommy Steele, Jimmy Edwards, Bruce Trent and various other popular stars as well.
