Seven of Tritt’s albums, including his Greatest Hits package, attained the status of certified platinum and higher, such as his 1991 album titled It’s All About to Change that went three-times platinum. Travis Tritt started making music when he was in high-school where he wrote his first song called Spend a Little Time, which he performed in front of his friends. Travis Tritt then released his first single titled Country Club in 1989 that was actually recorded in 1988, and went on Hot Country Tracks & Singles charts, where it reached number nine. The song was made the title track of his 1990 debut album, which was produced by Gregg Brown. His second single called Help Me Hold On marked his first number one, which was followed by other successful singles Drift Off to Dream and I’m Gonna Be Somebody, both of which entered Hot Country Tracks & Singles charts where they reached number three and number two respectively. The songs also appeared on Canadian RPM country charts and became number ones there as well. Another single from the same album Put Some Drive In Your Country also appeared on the Hot Country Songs charts, peaking at number twenty-eight.
This debut album, with five hit singles, went platinum by July 1991 sending a million copies in shipment and by 1996, it had gone two-times platinum. Since then Tritt has released several hit albums including The Restless Kind, T-R-O-U-B-L-E, It’s All About to Change, Down the Road I Go, The Storm and My Honky Tonk History.
Since 1992, Travis Tritt has been an active member of the weekly country music concert, The Grand Ole Opry. He has won several awards since the inception of his musical career, beginning with a Billboard Award in the category of Best New Male Artist in 1990. In 1991 he won two CMAs for Vocal Event of the Year, and a Horizon Award. He then won his first Grammy in 1992 for Best Vocals in a Country Collaboration, and won his second in 1999 in the same category for The Whiskey Ain’t Workin’ and Same Old Train, respectively. In 1993 and 1996, he won two more CMAs, both in the category of Vocal Event of the Year.
