Born in Cedartown, Georgia, Sam was a football player at college. His interest in music eventually led him to move to Nashville in 2008 to pursue a career in the field. In 2012, Hunt co-wrote Kenny Chesney’s single “Come Over”. The song went on to become a number one hit, earning the ASCAP award. He is also attributed with songwriting on Billy Currington’s “We Are Tonight” and Keith Urban’s “Cop Car”, both released in 2014. In 2013 Hunt released his independent single “Raised On It” and a month later released a free mixtape “Between the Pines”.
Hunt grew up listening to country, R&B, rap and other urban pop music styles. His songwriting draws influence from Brad Paisley. Other musical influences include Billy Currington, K-Ci, JoJo and Usher. His singing and songwriting gently blends various genres to produce a sound distinctively his own.
In early 2014, Hunt released the single “Leave The Night On” in advance of his debut album, which did exceptionally well on the Billboard charts. The song became the number one hit on the Hot Country Songs chart and also reached number one on the Heatseekers Songs chart. On the Billboard Hot 100, it peaked at number thirty. The song also received a platinum certification by the RIAA and has sold over 800,000 copies since 2014.
The talented country singer released his debut studio album in October 2014. The album titled Montevallo topped the Country Albums chart. Creating waves in the country music landscape, it secured the third spot on the Billboard 200 and the second spot on the Top Digital Albums chart and Top Canadian Albums chart. “Leave The Night On” was the first single from the debut album. Almost all the songs from the album featured on the Billboard charts. “Break Up In A Small Town” was listed at number thirty on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and has received a fair level of commercial success as well having sold over 150,000 copies. Other notable songs include “Make You Miss Me” and “Ex To See”.
Soon after the release of his debut album, Sam embarked on his first headlining tour, Lipstick Graffiti. The tour proved to be highly successful, selling out at fifteen venues. Sam’s popularity has grown overnight and the country music star has developed a vast following in a short period of time. Sam is being hailed as the fastest new country act to go gold since 2012. He has also received a nomination for “New Artist of the Year” at the 2015 ACM Awards.
