Background and Singing Career
The 35-year old Kip Moore was born in Tifton, Georgia, spending his early days fishing with his father and later moved to Hawaii for surfing and backpacking. His father was an expert golfer and Moore spent his high school days playing basketball and golf, ultimately getting a golf scholarship at the Valdolsta State University. Influenced by legends like Bob Seger, Kris Kristofferson and Bruce Springsteen, Moore started playing the guitar in high school but moving to Nashville seemed like a distant dream. On a friend’s advice, Moore decided to give it a shot at Nashville and moved to the music capital city in 2004.
In Nashville, the aspiring singer spent four years writing songs, meeting people and performing at local music events. Luck was finally on his side when in 2008, he caught the attention of Marc Dennis who introduced him to MCA Nashville Records official Joe Fisher. The artist was immediately signed to the label with producer Brett James and set off to release his first single “Mary was the Marrying Kind”. Inspired by a true story of his friend, the song was purely Moore’s sole creation. Unlike most singers in the industry, Moore is known for penning every song he sings. The artist’s breakthrough came with his chartbusting single “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck”, based on his life in the small town of Tifton.
Up All Night
The singer released his debut album “Up All Night” in 2012 and became an instant sensation after the tracks “Beer Money” and “Hey Pretty Girl” smashed the country Top 5. The album’s title has a special significance for the artist because of its multiple connotations, each being true in its own sense. The singer spent sleepless nights jotting down ideas, making music and practicing songs. In another context the title signifies not giving up on what you love the most and defying the barriers of time. The title is synonymous with the years of hard work the artist put into compiling the album, as he himself relates, “I had a lot of dark moments along the way and spent late nights crafting these songs. But it can also mean just the late nights on the road having a good time. It means a variety of things, and that's why I went with that title and the song is one of my favorites on the album.”
