Christopher Alan Young was born on the 12th of June, 1985 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He was the grandson of Richard Yates, an artist who performed on the Louisiana Hayride. He was a student at the Oakland High School, and started to play in Tennessee clubs while still in high school. During college, he went on tours and performed over one hundred and fifty gigs every year. While at a performance in Texas, one of his fans suggested he audition for the TV talent show called Nashville Star on the USA Networks. He tried out for the show in Houston, Texas and in 2006, was announced the winner of the show. The show gave him a great deal of exposure and a large amount of fan following. After winning the show, he was signed with RCA Records Nashville, and in late 2006, his debut single came out. The single was named Drinkin' Me Lonely and became an instantaneous hit. The Billboard Hot Country Songs placed it on number 42 in their charts. The song was also the first song of his debut album. The producer of the album was Buddy Cannon and it was named Chris Young. This was released the 1st of September, 2008 and the producer of the album was James Stroud. The album had some cover songs in it as well, such as a version of Rose in Paradise (by Waylon Jennings) and Rainy Night in Georgia (by Tony Joe White).
