He has gained most recognition for his works with bands Bela Fleck and Fleckstones, and New Grass Revival. Her two albums released so far include Songs of the Traveling Daughter and City of Refuge, both of which were spotted on third and second place on US Grass charts, respectively. Her debut solo album featured cellist Ben Sollee, The Duhks’ guitarist Jordan McConnell, and Bela Fleck as producer. Her career began immediately after winning the Merlefest songwriting contest, where she came second for writing Rockabye Dixie, and drew attention from Nettwerk record label. She has collaborated with the famous Sparrow Quartet, and has taken a tour of North America with them, making appearances at Vancouver Folk Festival, Bonnaroo Music Festival, MerleFest and New Orleans Heritage & Jazz, among others.
Bluegrass jam band Del McCoury Band, originally known as Del McCoury with Dixie Pals, underwent many changes till the eighties when it gained a concrete lineup, adding Del’s sons Robbie and Ronnie on banjo and mandolin, respectively. The group took on its current name in 1988, and was later joined by bassist Mike Bentley and fiddler Tad Marks.
