About Kathleen Madigan

Kathleen Madigan is of Irish American descent, and she often refers to her roots in her banter. She spent most of her childhood in St. Louis in the suburban area of Florissant. She had six brothers and sisters and had an even larger extended family. She went to the “McCluer North High School” where she grew an interest in sports and athletics. She won many awards for her abilities, including the “Mid-Missouri Hoops Shoot Championship”. She was also the shortest person to hold this title, at just five feet, two inches. At this point in her life, Madigan knew that she wanted a career in the media. Thus, after graduating high school in 1983, she went to the “Southern Illinois University Edwardsville” and majored in Journalism. She earned her BA degree in 1988.
For some time after attending college, Madigan tried her hand at print journalism. She worked for the “Suburban Journals”, a newspaper for the St. Louis area. She also had a job at the “Missouri Athletic Club”, where she worked in the publications department. By this time, the seed for comedy had already been sowed inside of her, and so she would spend her nights in comedy clubs, where she would perform standup routines or improvised humor for the local audiences. She would take part in open-mic sessions of nearly every club in and around St. Louis.
In a couple more years, she realized that her passion for comedy surpassed her passion for journalism. She no longer wanted to write news; she wanted to make fun of it instead. Therefore, she gave up both jobs she had at home and packed up to fly to California to hopefully start a comedy career there.
Today, she has earned enough respect to be regarded as a popular comedian of our time. She appeared on the hit NBC show, “Last Comic Standing” in 2007 and had the honor of being the sole unchallenged contestant throughout the series. The following year, she appeared on the show again as a talent scout and looked for other potential standup artists. She has also had segments on the E! Network, has had shows on CNN, and had 2 different specials to appear on HBO. She would also have a regular half an hour show on Comedy Central. Madigan has been the recipient of the “Sirius Comedy Cup”, beating out names like “Larry the Cable Guy” and many others. It is for this reason that she is able to sell thousands of Kathleen Madigan tickets this year.
In addition to her numerous accolades, she has also won a Phyllis Diller Award and American Comedy Award, both for the category of “Best Female Comedian”. She has received countless offers to write for and produce shows. Her unique sense of humor is often seen fitting for a writer of a comedy show. She however prefers performing over creating, although she has marred this rule on one occasion when she wrote for the show “Lewis Black’s Root of All Evil”. This program was featured on Comedy Central. Still, she keeps her writing career limited to a few named only, granted they have the same style of comedy and she be given complete artistic freedom. She dislikes the numerous rules and regulations that hinder quality and often lead to repeated jokes.
In addition to the many television shows, Madigan is also a radio personality. She is a regular guest on programs like “The Stephanie Miller Show” and “The Bob and Tom Show”. She is particularly popular on the SIRIUS-XM Radio. She has released 2 DVDs and four CDs of her most popular routines and iconic shows. In her 22 year long career, she has played over 300 shows. As for her latest show, her fans can also buy cheap Kathleen Madigan tickets for some of the earlier shows.
