The PSO's home is the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall that is located at the Orange County performing Arts Center found at Costa Mesa in California. It plays its summer concerts at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater located at Irvine, California. Its current music director has been leading the orchestra since 1990 with it being the largest orchestra to have been formed in the last forty years in the US.
The Pacific Symphony Orchestra was founded by Keith Clark, an assistant conductor and ex–student of Roger Wagner at the Los Angeles Master Chorale. He was also the principal guest conductor of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and became the orchestra’s first music director. The first performance of this newly formed company took place in 1979at the Plummer Auditorium in Fullerton. In 1981, they performed at the Good Time Theatre and had a subscription base of three thousand by then.
