About Clarion Brass

Initially formed in 1994, Clarion Brass is currently managed by Mary Weber who also plays piccolo trumpet, flugel and trumpet for the group. Mary has been a part of the St. Louis music scene since the mid eighties. She is also a regular soloist for numerous ensembles such as St. Louis Brass Band, Bob Coleman Orchestra, Union Avenue Opera, Opera Theater St. Louis and the Compton Heights Concert Band. Over the years, she has performed with renowned artists including The Temptations, Ann Hampton-Callaway, Mel Torme, Luciano Pavarotti and Mannheim Steamroller. Other than Mary, the group comprises Alan Shilling on percussion, Wayne Coniglio on bass trombone, George Manning on tenor trombone, Steve Hanrahan on French Horn, and Jason Harris on trumpets. The group of professional musicians continues to deliver great music performances around the year. The ensemble has played along several local icons including the Compton Heights Concert Band and the Alton Symphony. They have performed at the ‘St. Charles Community College’s Concert Series’, ‘SIUE Summer Series’ as well as the ‘Christ Church Cathedral Concert Series’. The group boasts an impressive repertoire of musical arrangements and is highly flexible. They can accommodate any type of ensemble such as brass choir, double brass quintet, quintet plus percussion, two trumpets and strings, solo trumpet and organ, and solo trumpet.
In 2007, the ensemble was invited to perform at the ‘Taste for the Arts’ opening ceremony. Since 2010, the group has famously performed every year at the Sheldon Concert Hall in front of a sold out crowd. They have played at the ‘Veterans Day Salute’ as well as the ‘Coffee Concert Series’ at the Sheldon stages. This season, the group will once again visit the concert hall to deliver another enthralling performance at the ‘Sheldon Hall’s Spring Spectacular Concert Series’. Located in St. Louis, Missouri, the Sheldon Concert Hall opened in 1912. Initially built to house the Ethical Society of St. Louis, the venue has now become one of the most celebrated localities in the city. Several eminent personalities have embraced its stages such as Earnest Hemingway, Dwight Eisenhower and Albert Einstein. The facility also hosts numerous musical concerts ranging from chamber, gospel and jazz music. The historic venue has gone through a number of restoration projects and renovation phases, most recently in 2001. Now, the venue attracts over three hundred performances every year. Some of the notable past artists who have played on the Sheldon stages include B.B.
