About The Dubliners

The back bone of the band was Ronnie Drew and after he left the band, Jim McCann filled his space quite amazingly and didn't let the band lose its endless fan following. The band now includes five talented musicians, Barney Mckenna, John Sheahan, Sean Cannon, Eamonn Campbell and Patsy Watchorn. The Dubliners has released more than 30 original albums and almost each one of them has done exceptional business both critically as well as commercially.

After playing at the Edinburgh Festival in 1963 the band featured on a BBC program called ‘Hootenanny’. Since the early 60s the band’s fan following never lessened, in fact it has always increased. The Dubliners have worked with several top record label companies of the world. Some of the names are EMI, Columbia, Epic, Legacy and Transatlantic, among others.

The album, ‘The Dubliners with Luke Kelly’ had a variety of epic Irish folk tracks. It gave birth to several outstanding songs such as ‘Rocky Road To Dublin’, ‘The Holy Ground’ and ‘The Wild Rover’. In the year 1967 The Dubliners came up with another hit album, "More Of The Hard Stuff". The album reached at number 8 position on Album Charts and stayed there for 23 weeks. Some of the songs that garnered impressive recognition are ‘The Old Triangle’, ‘Muirsheen Durkin’, ‘A Pub With No Beer’ and ‘Whiskey In The Jar’. Besides that, the album ‘Now’, showed McCann's real talent to the world and the ballad ‘Carrickfergus’ became one of the most popular and heavily requested songs of all times. The song ‘Unquiet Grave’ from the same album also turned out to be a good one and garnered immense success nationwide. Polydor Record produced the album and luckily millions of records were sold around the world.

The most recent live album of the band was released in the year 2009 with the name, ‘A Time To Remember’. Like the other albums, this one too took the fans by storm and has done a great business so far. The songs ‘Kelly The Boy From Killane’, ‘The Town I Loved So Well’ and ‘The Auld Triangle’ garnered the most appreciation. Apart from all that, The Dubliners have also released more than 20 compilation albums that have produced a wide range of hit songs, raising the status of the band even more.
